Recently, I made a decision for not only the betterment of myself but for the others around me that I needed to make some changes to my own personal way of doing and thinking about things.
I have used meditation to help myself when training in Martial Arts in the past but one thing I found was like
so many other things we have to make a daily decision to keep up certain practices to actually get the results we seek on a regular basis.
Are you the type of person that has tried many different things to get different results in your life?
Some of what you have tried may not even have been on purpose.
Ever find yourself thinking about things that you have wanted to do or change at some point? Yea...
I've been there to.... still am in many ways.
I've been to a lot of different places in the world and if there is one thing that I've learned its that getting away is good for you in more ways than one.
We go thru our lives sometimes day to day and don't always take the time to stop and smell the roses...
I know that because I've been there myself.I look back at a lot of the places I've been and the one thing I'm
glad of is the time I spent appreciating where I was at that time.
You could say the same of yourself, when is the last time that you decided to take a minute for yourself for the purpose of re-setting your mind. We all need a minute sometimes to re-set and it only makes sense that
we would do that if it helps us to the level it can.
I have seen what being non-stop and never being able to take a moment can do and I'm here to tell you that
if you don't make sure that you do you will never achieve the level of peace and meaning that we are meant
to acheive in life so I have found that taking some time before I reach breaking point is the only thing that
keeps me from losing it.
Sometimes though I don't take that time like I should and I can always feel myself reaching breaking point by
Here lately I do realize that I need to a lot more meditation time than I have allowed in the past and I have decided in the future soon that a local monastary would be the best place to attempt some serious meditation. But there are some other times and places that you can start an attempt at some peace of mind.
Its like going to the gym, if you don't do it much you wont get the results you want.
Self anillization is always tough ( I know only to well) but it is something that is nesessary if we are to progress in life.
My own journey sometimes is tough but I find that sometimes that means I have to go the extra mile and for the peace of mind that can be found if you take the time to find your center and re-evaluate yourself when you should. Are you ready to go to your next level? What will you do so those around you are part of the better side of your life? For me that means some time away soon to a location that will best suite me for some soul searching.
Just remember you don't have to go off to a distant land to make that happen but when things get to much
just make sure that you acknowledge that you do need a re-set and just take actions to make it happen.
Sooner or later you will thank yourself......
So will the ones around you....

|The Strength of a Warrior|
Do you know what that means? Can the average person say they do?
In your everyday life can you say that you have experienced what it truly means to be in today's
society - A WARRIOR ?
I think that we all have a conception of what a real warrior is supposed to be, but when you get right
down to it do you label someone based on things that they have done, or is it maybe something a
little more "vague" or maybe I should use the term - overlooked?
Well in this post I would like to render some of what that has meant to me, and point out a few examples
of people that have not only embodied what today's normal warrior looks like but have in some way made
a difference in my own life.
kick,Kick,KICK!- again,again,AGAIN....his voice resonating against the walls.
Circling around me hands waving about in a crazy yet controlled , keeping me focused, not giving me a
second to breath ; don't think , only react! React!! Kick, move, again, again...
I'm thinking back to a moment in my life of extreme training like I had seldom made the decision to experience till then.
The person : A close personal friend of mine who knows all to well the meaning of sacrifice.
The place : One of my old Martial Art schools.
The situation: Part of my prepping time that I spent getting ready for my Black Belt test.
- Now to some of you that may not mean a lot... but for myself its just one of the things that I remember like it was yesterday that is still able to drive me.
Kinda like the spirits of past warriors reside in everything, watching over our struggles.
Ever had something tough come up on you and you still found a way to make it through and you didn't give up?
That's called Indomitable Spirit.
It means your incapable of being defeated. That you won't let anyone get in your head or your way if it means holding you back.
Oh wait, that is one of "Karate's" tenants. Yep,definitely part of Martial Arts.
Sometimes it seems like what we want is hardest to achieve even though we have the "want" or that
something that is inside us all, the strength of a warrior.
I have another friend of mine that has been through a lot physically including surgery as well as a lot
of set backs but if anyone could inspire you it would be him.He posts on our FB site " Southern Heat (decent into madness) .
You should check it out, he will give you some good inspiration from time to time. That's something that we
all need, some more than others.
Here lately I have had the good luck and honor to run across a few people that are as much inspiring as
they are interesting. I always enjoy following others that have the same struggles that we all do and have
had but keep on doing there best not to give up. Remember- just show up .
Myself I struggle to find a good balance between life and so many other things but just remember -the Strength of a Warrior is of one that keeps pushing forward, keeps learning, and to realize that you are
strong enough. You can do it. You have indomitable spirit......you have the Strength of a Warrior.

|The Art of Listening|
I thought for this blog as a header a picture of the beloved Dalai Lama with the children would be a good visual for what I'm about to share.
I have done some studying on him and some of his teachings along with my ongoing studies and one of the most outstanding things that you will always notice is not only how happy he truly is,but how much he not only cares for others and especially the look that crosses his face when he is with the young ones.
That is a look that most people cannot fake no matter how hard you try.....
Which brings me to my point.....
In the past couple of years especially I have spent alot of time with a lot of younger guys of all different ages,
and the one thing I have found in common with all of them is that they all just want someone to pay them
attention to what they have to say, to what is going thru their mind.
I guess you could say I am slowly becoming a Bodhisttvas of some sort, an awakened being....
I spent alot of my time as a martial arts instructor and had the privilege to spend alot of time with most all these kids.
I have always spent a lot of time off and on with youth from several different countries and one thing that doesn't change is the way they are all built. They have the same type of worry's and wants just like the ones here in America. Now when I used the term "awakened" it is only to first give you the definition ,but also to show that I am hopefully learning from some of my life experiences.
I remember years ago when I was coming up in the ranks in Tae Kwon Do,I had the privilege of teaching a teenager that was not only talented but very much had the drive and want to get ahead of all the others in the school and everything about her showed that.
As some time went by and she excelled more and more she became repeatedly agitated and approach me many times wondering why she was being held back when she could do so much more.....
Well after many times of me working with her and having conversations I found out that also she was having things happen in her life that she was struggling with. She did move on from her training but it seems after it all at least being there to the best of my abilities did help and she to this day is doing well.
I started out young myself working around and with a group at different times so it seems listening to others seems to be something that I've had the fortune to be able to do and I've learned that if you are willing to try to be there when needed that a situation will present itself sooner or later.
Second case in point, I've had a young person in my life that has been thru an awful lot in theirs but still is able to come thru it all with a smile on their face.Having God in their life would be a main reason for that.
That is one thing that I have seen over the years is that first of all the ones that have that connection somehow to start with are able to make so much more sense out of things. This teen is a good testament to that.
That doesn't mean that life gets easier at any time but what I recently mention a couple of times and told a friend of mine is that contrary to popular opinion,God does not say he wont put more on you than you can handle,he says he will walk side by side thru it with you.
And as I have experienced lots of the times I think he is doing a lot of carrying; we just don't always notice the single set of footprints. And yes I do realize you guys how hard it is to see them most of the times.
Guys,I would have to say some of the best experiences I have had has been when I have spent time with young people and thinking back I still understand why. As parents I think that sometimes we tend to let life and everyday activities take a little to much president over our actions and decisions where are young people are concerned.I'm like so many others out there, I'm trying to learn what are the best things to do for my own daughter, I haven't always done that but with trial and error and a lot of prayer I will do my best by actually trying, not by fooling myself that they will be ok. Guys our young people really are the future, they are the people in just a few years that will be on the road driving, at the stores spending there money beside us, sitting with us at Church, and training side by side sometimes sweating blood and tears with us.....
Young people really are can be awesome especially our on kids( YOUR KIDS ) , they love music most of which I do still listen to , they love to go and do and want to be part of so much out there, if they are just given a chance.
Adults just remember those guys do have a lot to say and yes opinions and even advice.
If you want to understand them better maybe you should spend a little more time listening to what they have to say, sometimes they are in pain and need some relief....
other times they just haven't had a lot interaction and just need to feel your presence next to them.
The main thing I've found is that yes, they will turn to us and we need our best when possible to show them what it means to actually have someone listen.
They love to have fun, can seem like they are a lot to handle but are amazing when given a chance to shine.Maybe some of us need to light the way for them a little more and not let our own downfalls dictate whether or not we give that extra we think we don't have.
Our young people are awesome! Lets try when we can to let know we really do think so.You may be the only person that young one has , as for myself , like one of my favorite Pastors recently told me,give what you can, but sometimes you have slow down , I will try to make sure I'm always able to slow down with a young one when needed. If you don't give them something they need, one day they might not need you anymore......
Go do some listening today- and tomorrow too..it will be worth it.
